I am pleased to say that psychotherapy is alive and well in the British Defence Psychiatric Services. Indeed, the development of psychotherapy and the military is inextricably linked, despite their seeming incongruence as bedfellows. I shall explore their relationship over the past century to contextualise the work of military psychiatry.
