Mikhail Bakhtin, Dialogism, and RDT
Because the concepts developed in this book are largely appropriated from Mikhail Bakhtin's theory of dialogism, this chapter is devoted to introducing the reader to Bakhtin and his work. As I noted in Chapter 1, Holquist (2002) has labeled Bakhtin's work dialogism, out of the belief that dialogue is the master key that guided Bakhtin's work throughout his career. My overview will not be exhaustive, focusing instead on those concepts that I regard as particularly important to interpersonal and family communication.
