Learners need to develop an understanding of scientific processes and acquire practical skills to help them make meaning of their learning. In this chapter activities will be provided and where possible these will be illustrated by children's work or photographs to show how promoting detection skills will ensure that learners use their brains to develop their understanding and enjoyment of science. These activities are linked to the theories developed in Chapters 1 and 2, however the focus in this chapter is on the learning and acquiring of skills within classroom settings.
