This section of the book focuses on the idea that the city functions as a medium through which politics are enacted. As such it identifies the ways in which actors and groups of actors utilize the city as a means to achieve certain ends. Our bracketing of ‘urban politics’ here is therefore less geographical than the previous section. This is not to say that we are not interested in the geography of the city.
