[Page 20]During one of our instructional coaching institutes at the Kansas Coaching Project, a charming, warmhearted leader from a struggling inner-city school said what many people have said to me in one way or another over the years:
We can't wait. Our kids need to do better today. We can't wait to be nice to teachers. We can't do all this touchy-feely, listening stuff. Our teachers need to get better now. Or they need to be gone. Because our kids deserve better.
