Part IV: Other Egalitarian Cultures
In egalitarian cultures, countries have a high tax rate that allows them to offer generous support for many social programs. There is a belief in such cultures that government is responsible for the welfare of all of its citizens and can solve many problems that business firms by themselves cannot. In Part III we described Scandinavian egalitarian cultures separately because of the unique features found in them, such as the fact that legal financial penalties are related to one's assets, as in the case of Swedish day fines. In Part IV we describe other egalitarian cultures that have high tax rates supportive of many social programs. These national cultures include Germany, Ireland, Canada, and France.[Page 178]
