Counselling People with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
When people are involved in, or witness, a trauma of some sort, they experience a severe form of arousal reaction. This experience of trauma varies according to the individual's resilience and coping abilities, and it is the individual's perception of the event that is important rather than the counsellor's assessment of the severity of the trauma.
