Evaluating Case Study Outcomes
Outcome evaluation is a critical element in the case study procedure. At Tier 3 of the RTI model, data from brief single-case designs are used to test hypotheses so that interventions can accurately target variables contributing to students' problems. When the single-case design and corresponding data analysis are extended over a longer period of time, more details can be obtained about the functional relationship between independent (intervention) and dependent variables (target behavior). Decisions about whether to continue, modify, or replace an intervention all depend on evaluation of the data from these monitoring procedures.
