School psychologists are expected to have a beneficial impact on the students they serve. Data-based outcomes from case studies, which are described in Chapter 8, attest to the value of their services. In addition, aggregated data from multiple case studies can be used by practitioners and school psychology service units for purposes of accountability and to improve professional practices. Case studies that generate a consistent pattern of strong positive results are eloquent testimonials to the effectiveness of school psychologists. Clearly, evaluation of case study implementation and outcomes is a critical responsibility of both school-based service delivery units and university-based school psychology programs.
