In this chapter we discuss various ways in which reminiscence can be used to understand a client and their difficulties by placing those difficulties in the context of their lives. This is in contrast to seeing their problems in isolation. Reminiscence used as part of the assessment process in this way can also aid the formulation of treatment plans.
