Introduction

Corruption occurs in various forms and in every area of sports, as the case of the FIFA scandal has taught us. Embezzlement, match fixing or any kind of manipulation of the final outcome are corresponding examples, and, as we will also argue, doping (see Maennig, 2008; Masters, 2015). Indeed, professional sports attract not only individuals’ interest, but also significant money, and thus corruption in sports can create societal and economic burdens.
