Introduction

The well-known Bosman verdict of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) in December 1995 abolished the existing transfer system for end-of-contract players. By this verdict, professional football players are free to move to another team at the end of their contract without any transfer fee. However, the transfer system for players under contract is still alive with increasing and sky-rocketing transfer fees.
