In this chapter, we will focus on belief change in the therapeutic setting and outline the steps that clients need to take if they are to achieve belief change. We will consider specific belief change here, and in the final chapter we will discuss how such change can be generalised and address the concept of general belief change. Let us be clear at the outset we are not saying the following steps need to be taken in the precise order that we outline them, nor are we saying that all the steps need to be taken for change to occur.
