The mind-set of a larger corporation makes you lazy. If you are getting by, you are OK. But, in a new company, and a small company, you can't just get by. You have to look forward and say, “What will it take to survive?” You can't look inwardly all the time. You can't look back and say, “Well, we survived this way,” and keep maintaining the status quo. I took a hard look at my company, and I didn't see a pretty picture in the future. I told everyone that we weren't going to survive if we simply considered what we're doing now successful. We had to do something drastic.
