Working with parents

The previous section has focused in detail on the school setting, but what happens in school does not occur in isolation. People and events outside the school environment are likely to have an effect on the learning and behaviour of students, particularly those displaying ADHD characteristics. The third and final section will examine factors in the wider context, beginning in this chapter by focusing on the importance of schools working in partnership with parents. The discussion focuses on parental involvement with children's education, effective parent-teacher relationships and parent support groups.
