By examining variability in ADHD behaviour across settings, over time and between cases, this chapter focuses on a range of effective teaching and management approaches for use with students displaying characteristics associated with ADHD. Drawing on findings from case study research and where appropriate taking into account theories concerning the nature of ADHD, the discussion focuses on:

  • the positive aspects of ADHD characteristics;
  • the delivery and organisation of the curriculum;
  • teaching and learning styles;
  • grouping and support in the classroom; and
  • school training needs.
