What is ADHD?

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a medical diagnosis that is applied to children, young people and adults who are experiencing significant behavioural and cognitive difficulties in important aspects of their lives. These difficulties can be attributed to problems of inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity. Inattention is observed in behaviours such as seeming not to listen, not following through on instructions, being forgetful in daily activities, being easily distracted by extraneous stimuli and failing to complete tasks.
