How can primary school teachers use technology to promote inclusive practice? With so many new technologies being developed and made available to schools, how do we ensure that we select resources that enhance inclusive teaching in the classroom? This chapter focuses on the way that technology can develop and enhance children's learning in Literacy. Literacy involves many life skills including communicating, listening, reading, writing and social interaction. Incorporating all of these processes into classroom practice can make it challenging to teach, particularly in diverse classroom environments. Effective language skills are fundamental for children to access the curriculum. The Rose Report (2006) highlights the importance of language, not only for accessing literacy, but across the whole curriculum and the child's development.
