Character Theory: To create a theory about a character, the reader analyzes (careful and close examination, typically for the purposes of explanation and interpretation). Good readers don’t hold conclusions about characters so much as they continually revise first assumptions based on new details the author provides as the story unfolds. By story’s end, a reader has synthesized information and in essence tries to reach a conclusion about a character(s).
