Adjusting Speech and Using Realia, Video, and Visuals to Build Comprehensibility
As teachers, we know that students have to understand instruction to learn content. ELLs also must understand the language of instruction in order to develop academic language proficiency. There are several ways to make language more understandable or comprehensible to ELLs and FEP learners in the regular classroom. Strategy 19 considers three areas for building comprehensibility: voice, visuals, and time for processing.
