This Part examines how good character is caught in primary schools. It contains four chapters, each exploring a different theme. Chapter 8 looks at the hidden curriculum and how to develop a whole-school approach to building character in pupils. Chapter 9 considers what makes a primary school teacher a character educator – as well as advice for ITT providers on preparing teachers for the role. Chapter 10 focuses specifically on the character building potential of some well-known and less well-known extra-curricular activities. A discussion of strategies useful for character coaching and refection is also included here.
