The purpose of this chapter is to provide some ideas about how we might go about assessing character education. The two main strands to this idea of assessment are firstly how teachers can enlist pupils to assess and provide feedback on the effectiveness of character education materials and secondly how assessment descriptors may be used to help children to grow in understanding of how virtue is acquired.
