Ben came to the Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) on a dual role placement which meant that he spent one term initially in the PRU and maintained his place in his mainstream primary school. He had not been permanently excluded from school but had a fixed term exclusion for this period of time on the agreement that he would attend the PRU and participate in the course on offer. As part of his programme he was required to participate in the Daniel's Letters programme which was actually developed and trialled with Ben's peer group.
