Informal professional conversations

Informal professional conversations are those held between a teacher and another educator following an informal, drop-in observation. Such observations are typically rather brief, perhaps as short as five minutes, and are always unannounced. The observers may be any educator in the school—a colleague, a supervisor, or an administrator—although most frequently they are supervisors or administrators (or instructional coaches who have no—or very light—instructional duties of their own) for the simple reason that those individuals normally have the flexibility to visit classrooms as part of their daily routine.
