Specialist provision

All secondary schools provide specialist teaching across the whole curriculum. But sometimes even the skilled subject specialist is unable to provide tuition at the required level for gifted pupils, so visiting tutors may be brought in to meet their needs. While this is common in subjects like music and sport where expert tuition is needed in order to ensure that gifted and talented individuals have access to specialised training and support, it should also be possible in other areas of the curriculum, according to pupils' needs.
