When I was a child, my mother used an old aluminum pressure cooker—she was a working mom and was looking for ways to speed up our dinner preparations. Once, it built up too much pressure and exploded right there in the kitchen, splattering beef stew over every square inch of the walls and ceiling. I don't think my mother ever used it again and thanks to modern conveniences like microwaves and crockpots, pressure cookers have gone the way of the record player and typewriter.
