CEO Leadership Effectiveness across Cultures: The Effect of Fit and Behavior
This chapter presents our findings on CEO leadership effectiveness. We examine the effect of two possible sources: (1) the fit between CEO leadership behavior and societal expectations (culturally endorsed implicit leadership theories, or CLTs) and (2) the combined effect of fit and leadership behavior. The chapter has three sections. The first section summarizes our Chapter 8 findings demonstrating how CEO leadership behaviors impact CEO effectiveness. The second section provides evidence that the fit between societal leadership expectations and CEO leadership behavior impact CEO leadership effectiveness.
