From Anxiety to Possibility: Poems 1987–1997
Although I was always open to exploring the deeper motives for my scholarly perspective in informal conversation with others, I never did so in writing—until the following set of poems. Former doctoral student Steve Banks called to say that he was putting together a collection of alternative forms of scholarly writing, and I signed on without having any idea what I would do. I ultimately sent him a series of poems I wrote about my inner emotional life during the late 1980s and most of the 1990s.
