This book is for practitioners, in particular for:
- teachers
- special educational needs co-ordinators
- headteachers, and
- local education authority officers.
Chapters 2–9 seek to illustrate the contribution of a range of different disciplines (history, law, politics, ethics, economics, medicine, sociology and psychology) to aspects of special education. It is hoped that this will encourage any practitioners who may take a view predominantly informed by any one discipline, such as psychology, to explore the contribution of these diverse disciplines to special education.
Chapters 10–12 concern, respectively, national, local and school administrative frameworks for SEN considered particularly in terms of government legislation and guidance.
