I cringe when I hear of places that determine an instructional program for students based on the idea that all students who score a certain number of points or do not score a certain number of points on a standardized test have the same need. It is absurd to think that all struggling readers will all need the same assistance with reading and will benefit from the same program. That is like saying that every person who cannot walk well will be given a pair of crutches and then expecting that to work for everyone.
