I was approached by one of the editors of this book to write this chapter after I had given a talk in a symposium Peter Frost had directed at the Academy of Management annual meetings on teaching doctoral students to teach. I thought the idea of the book was great and the topic of the chapter important, and I was happy to be asked to participate in this project. When I agreed to write this chapter, I knew that it would be challenging for me, but it was even more difficult than I had expected.
