Over the past decade, I have found myself involved in working with policy makers and attempting to influence public policy in a number of different contexts. My background is in industrial and organizational psychology, and a considerable amount of my research has focused on personnel selection issues; my involvement with public policy is an outgrowth of my work in this domain. I spent several years serving on a National Academy of Sciences committee charged with evaluating the controversial practice of race-based adjustment of scores on employment tests.
