The pretenure phase of career represents for me a period of establishing competence within my field of organizational behavior. Beyond establishing competence, I feel a strong need to establish a niche within the field with which I am comfortable, build competencies within this niche, and become known to others as a legitimate scholar vis-à-vis these specific areas of competence.
