What is the cost of care for children in an institutional setting? Is there a differential in the cost of care for the disadvantaged child compared to the cost of care for the severely troubled child, as might be expected? If there is, what is the cost differential?
This chapter seeks to address these questions. We provide actual and some estimates of the cost of institutional child care over time and then evaluate the difference in the cost of care for severely troubled and disadvantaged children.
