Experimental Designs – General
Experimental research involves the active manipulation of variables under the control of the researcher. This approach attempts to study how subjects will react to the manipulated conditions through monitoring one or more outcome measure(s). If an experiment is well designed, the experimenter may, in principle, detect causal relationships between variables. However, there are many threats to the satisfactory detection of such relationships.
