There are a variety of roles that nurses may have in relation to research and all are important to ensure that professional practice is based on firm foundations. Some nurses will conduct research, others will facilitate this process and most will be informed consumers. Each role will require different levels of knowledge and skill that nurses may acquire at varying periods in their professional careers.
