In many countries today there is an increasing emphasis on cost-effectiveness when there seems to be an unlimited demand for health care. All nurses want to give their patients and clients the best possible research-based care, but ‘political’ pressures from within and outside care settings can sometimes make this very difficult. Literature in this section highlights some of the problems, including the poor quality of some research.
