Sources of Instruments
Sections 2.56 to 2.63 include compendia, books or articles that list or describe instruments of possible relevance to nursing. They are grouped under the following headings: 2.56 Attitudinal; 2.57 Behavioural; 2.58 Health related; 2.59 Medical; 2.60 Mental measures; 2.61 Nursing; 2.62 Physiological; 2.63 Sociological/occupational.
The listing is not exhaustive and there is some overlap between compilations, but it illustrates the wide variety of tools already available. Before developing new tools, existing ones should be carefully examined to see if their validity for nursing practice could be further strengthened by repeated use. Please note that many compilations are ‘old’ but have not been superseded.
