The chapter provides a picture of practice within one Sure Start Children's Centre (SSCC). This was done by ‘listening’ to the voices of those most closely involved, drawing on the expertise of parents, staff and Senior Management. It was part of my own research for a higher degree and I am deeply indebted to all those involved who gave of their time freely to assist my studies. They all played a significant part in developing my understanding of the complexity of leading and managing an SSCC.
