Involving children in discussing, planning and reviewing their targets for learning and behaviour is a key element of Every Child Matters (2003) and the Children's Plan (2007). We know that when we do a kind thing for someone, when we are selfless in helping someone or raise money for people in need, it often engenders positive feelings. We feel good about ourselves and also have a sense of self efficacy, that we can make a difference to others’ lives. The same is true of children.
