When I was a child in school, occasionally teachers showed us half-hour long educational films that were tangentially related to topics that we were covering in class. These were seen primarily as a break from our more mundane traditional lessons rather than an effective means of learning, and unfortunately video is still typically used only as a Friday afternoon reward or filler. This chapter describes an innovative application of technology in classroom teaching, where brief video segments are threaded throughout lessons to improve children's learning.
