Introduction

This chapter looks at the somewhat neglected topic of the organisational context of counselling practice and introduces a model for understanding counselling organisations, based on evaluating their organisational culture. It includes:

  • understanding the impact of organisational context on counselling practice;
  • exploring the different types of organisational culture;
  • working as a counsellor in hybrid or ‘mixed’ organisational cultures.
