The Beginning of a Mentor Program
The goal in this chapter is to share concerns about the lack of support for the beginning principal, how one school district addressed the issue, and the schematic developmental process of a successful program. No evidence was found of any other school district mentoring program designed and developed by principals and for principals. The Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) process is described here, along with lessons learned and recommendations for new program development.
