This book has been written to support primary teacher trainees and newly qualified teachers in developing their knowledge and understanding of both computing and the broader pedagogical issues concerning the ways in which Information and Communications Technology (ICT) can support children to develop confidence, capability and competence as lifelong learners in the information society. The requirements of teachers in England are clearly identified in the National Curriculum and the Teachers’ Standards. This book identifies clear links with these requirements, but also addresses the wider context in which ICT has an impact on learning and teaching.
