Law enforcement agencies and mental health professionals are concerned about the increasing numbers of young people who are attracted to cults. By one measure it is estimated that between 3000 and 5000 cults exist in the USA (Singer with Lalich, 1995) and, though no one knows the exact number of cults that exist in the world, approximately 5000 is the number currently assumed (Wikipedia, 2008).
