India and China are now being seen as two rapidly growing economic powers in the Asian region, the former having got into this a little over a decade ago, whereas the latter had an early start, arising out of post-cultural revolution disillusionment. From an environmental perspective, both India and China have had a long history of exploitation of their natural resources.
