There is great comfort to be derived from following the well-trodden paths; hypothesis testing is an activity open to all; there are numerous outlets for its expression, and abundant promises of professional advancement. As many fear, when one sits smugly beside warm fires, the murmurs of cold winds only increase one's comfort.
