The postmodernizing of the organization is virtually synonymous with the thrust toward globalization. However, it is the globalized corporation that is most often viewed with suspicion. In their competitive telos, global corporations threaten to destroy the modes of life, value systems, ecological balance, and political autonomy of all cultures they invade. In this chapter, we shall propose not only that this critique is overdrawn but also that such organizations may indeed open a way toward a polyphonic or multivoiced world.
