The Meaning of Diagnosis
Kelly felt strongly that it was not in the client's interest to have a ‘medical’ diagnosis made of the problem. That inevitably leads to the client being placed in a category box with a label such as ‘depression’, ‘personality disorder’ or ‘anxiety state’. Kelly puts his view like this:
