Determining a Personal Programme for Personal and Professional Development
An appropriate programme of continuing development will vary between individuals and will change with time. An effective programme should be designed in such a way as to meet the immediate needs of the individual counsellor and to lead towards any longer-term career ambitions. Such a programme should be constructed thoughtfully and evaluated (and if necessary adapted) regularly. A programme with evident purpose, achievable goals and a logical flow is not only much more likely to demonstrate a commitment to continuing development than an unformed, haphazard pattern of attendance at short courses or workshops but to be more satisfying to the counsellor.
